I may be a little late to the game but I just realized something: Stripes go with EVERYTHING!
Seriously, how am I just now realizing this?
Over the years, certain fabrics and prints have become mainstays in our wardrobe because of their ability to act as a neutral. Take denim, for example, or leopard print. Most recently we’ve seen that military/olive green goes with everything.
Well ladies, if you haven’t already, it’s time to make room in your closet for the latest goes-with-everything wardrobe staple – THE STRIPED SHIRT!
Don’t believe me? Take a look at this recent photo shoot.
I paired my new, black and white striped blouse (available here) with every color/pattern I could think of and it worked…EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
Stripes and leopard print…check!
Stripes and ANY OTHER COLOR? Yup! And since the olive green vest works as a neutral, I was able to add pops of melon for additional wow-factor.
Stripes with floral? BINGO! This might be my favorite combo of all!
I even paired this top with black and white hounds tooth and it STILL worked!
As I said, I’m a little behind on this trend. Some of my blogger boo’s figured this out and have been posting some great stripe combos already. Check out the links below where I’ve LINED UP more inspiration! (See what I did there?!)
My girl Alexa is killing it with several striped ensembles but I especially love this one where she shows us that although stripes go with everything, they work beautifully by themselves too. Plus, for those of you concerned about wearing horizontal stripes, check out her link in this post to help calm your nerves!
My West Texas friends will especially love this link where Dasha at Windy City Wardrobe shows us that camo and stripes play well together too!
How about stripes with dots? Does that really work? Well Stephanie at Le Blog de Big Beauty thinks so and I definitely agree!
Kellie B at And I Get Dressed shows us that stripes and plaid can be friends. In fact, I was thinking my new striped shirt would look great with a fun, plaid scarf around it’s neck!
Lastly, Tanesha at Girl With Curves, shows us that stripes even go with OTHER STRIPES!
I think I’ve proven my point! 😉 All that’s left to do now is get that striped shirt and start mixing!!
Love and Confidence,
