Award Winning Outfit…I Mean, Musical

On Tuesday I finally got to see the Tony Award winning musical, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder. I also finally got to wear my off-the-shoulder Ross dress with my thigh highs!

Theater and fashion in one night was almost more than this girl could handle!

Let’s start with a quick review of the show.

In a word, hysterical! Ever since my sister and brother-in-law showed me the clip below from the 2014 Tony Awards, I knew I HAD to see this show! You can imagine my delight when I found out that not only was it coming to the Winspear Opera House in Dallas but that I was able to purchase “Industry Insider” tickets which allowed me access to a preshow social and meeting the cast. See, being a theatre geek has it’s perks!

Okay, on to the fashion (before I go full-on, crazy theatre lady on you).

I’ve been waiting to wear this Ross dress with my boots for quite a while…months, actually. But you know how I do. I need the perfect occasion for certain outfits. Finally, I had it!

You also know that I LOVE me some accessories. From jewelry to scarves to the perfect purse, I can’t live without those fun, funky – sometimes sparkly – finishing touches. For this outfit (and occasion), I decided a fun, whimsical touch of color was necessary. So at the last minute, I decided to turn my rarely used yellow wallet into a feathery clutch.

I had purchased these ostrich feather ribbons online for another project that never happened. I wasn’t worried though, I knew they would get used somehow – and I was right!

Once I added some wine-colored lipstick, I had a finished product worthy of a night at the theatre!
