Trendy Wednesday

Here I am, attempting my first WEEKLY post – something I typically hesitate to do because then I feel locked in and committed. But maybe that’s a good thing, right?

I decided to make Humpday “Trendy Wednesday” and use it to discuss my take on all the fashion trends out there. Now if only I could find a camel to advertise for me, maybe it would catch on! 😉

Let’s jump right in…

When I decided to write this weekly post, I had no question what my first topic would be.

DENIM ON DENIM!

Can we please talk about this trend and all the mixed emotions I’m emoting?

My initial reaction was “Just say NO!”. Seeing all these denim shirts with jeans or denim skirts or even overalls made me think of the 80s and farmers and that awful Britney Spears/Justin Timberlake combo!

Before I go to far, allow me to clarify…I have nothing against certain 80s fashions and I’m certainly not trying to hate on farmers. Like I said, I just have a lot of emotions when it comes to entire outfits made of denim.

BUT…I’m nothing if not adaptable and willing to try new things, so I’ve done a little research. (And by “research” I mean, I’ve spent a lot of time on Google Images.)

Here is the conclusion that I’ve come to.

IF I were ever to attempt this denim on denim look, it would have to go something like this…

I love this look from www.protectyourglow.com . For one, she broke up the head to toe denim with a belt and cute yellow heels. I’m also a fan of this mix of casual with a little dressy. (And yes, I realize Britney “dressed up” her denim as well but the outcome was miles away from this look.)

Here’s another great example from http://theglitterguide.com blog…

Again, the colors and patterns make this trend much more doable for me. In fact, I may have to steal the animal print, yellow clutch look!

So how about you? What’s your take on this trend? Do you rock the farmer look and love it? I’d love to hear from my readers if you’ve tried this trend and how you make it work without channeling a Saved By the Bell character?
